Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you use anthrotempo.com, why, and what your rights are. Anthrotempo is designed to collect as little data as possible: the tools calculate in your browser, and what you enter stays there.

Who is responsible

The controller responsible for this website is Maja Dobnik Kočevar, Maribor, Slovenia. Contact: hello@anthrotempo.com. Further details are in the legal notice.

Data processed on every visit

Hosting. The website is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., USA). When you load a page, your browser sends technical data such as your IP address, the requested address, date and time, and browser information. GitHub processes this data to deliver the site and to protect it against abuse, as described in the GitHub Privacy Statement. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

All population data comes from files on anthrotempo.com itself. Your browser does not contact the United Nations or any other data provider when you use the tools.

What you enter

  • Birth year, birthday and country. The tools need a birth year, and some can use your exact birthday and a country. The calculations run in your browser. What you enter is not sent to Anthrotempo.
  • Remembering. Your birth year, your birthday if you enter one, your country and the family profiles you add (a nickname and a birth year each) are kept in your browser’s local storage, and only there, so every page opens with them. They are never sent anywhere. You can turn “Remember my birth year and country on this device” off in Settings, and “Delete my data on this device” removes them.
  • Shared links. A link you share can contain a birth year, the years and countries you looked at and an age range. It never contains your exact birthday or any name.

Data stored in your browser

Anthrotempo stores your privacy choices and display settings in your browser’s local storage, and, unless you turn remembering off, your birth year, birthday, country and any family profiles you add. This data never leaves your device. You can delete it at any time in Settings or by clearing the site data in your browser. See the cookie policy for a full list.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

With your consent where the law requires it, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. It helps us understand which tools and pages are used, so we can improve them. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes information such as pages visited, approximate location derived from the IP address (which Google Analytics 4 does not store), device and browser type, and interactions with the tools.

What the tools report. When you enter a birth year, we send the year (never the day and month) and the generation it belongs to, to see which birth years are explored most. We also send the countries and years you explore and which tools and views you use. We never send your exact birthday, names, anything else you type, or results calculated about you.

We use Google Consent Mode. In the EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Quebec, analytics cookies are only set after you accept them in the privacy banner. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). In other regions, analytics is enabled by default and you can turn it off at any time under “Privacy settings” at the bottom of every page.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

Anthrotempo is funded by advertising delivered by Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited). Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

  • You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings.
  • More information: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
  • In the EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Quebec, advertising cookies are only used with your consent, collected through a consent management platform certified by Google. Without consent, only non-personalised or limited ads may be shown. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Transfers outside the EU

Google and GitHub may process data in the United States. Both participate in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, on the basis of which the European Commission has found an adequate level of data protection. In addition, standard contractual clauses apply.

How long data is kept

Data in your browser stays until you delete it. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months. Hosting logs are kept by GitHub according to its own policy. Emails you send to us are kept as long as needed to answer them and then deleted, unless the law requires us to keep them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (“Privacy settings” at the bottom of every page). To exercise these rights, write to hello@anthrotempo.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Slovenia this is the Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia (Informacijski pooblaščenec), Dunajska cesta 22, 1000 Ljubljana, www.ip-rs.si.

Residents of US states with privacy laws

Anthrotempo does not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies can count as “sharing” for targeted advertising under some US state laws. You can opt out at any time with “Your privacy choices” (or “Privacy settings”) at the bottom of every page, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals where required.

Children

Anthrotempo is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
