About Anthrotempo

Anthrotempo answers a personal question with public data: where do you fit among the people alive today, and how has the world changed during your lifetime? Enter a birth year and the site shows your generation, the world you were born into and how humanity is changing, in six languages.

The name

Anthrotempo joins the Greek anthropos, human being, with the Italian tempo, time. It is the third site of the Tempo family: Heliotempo does the same for the Sun, and Astrotempo for the night sky.

Who is behind it

I’m Maja Dobnik Kočevar, a software developer from Maribor, Slovenia. I design, build and run Anthrotempo myself, as I do Heliotempo and Astrotempo. You can find more of my work on my portfolio.

How the site works

  • Official data. Population figures come from the United Nations World Population Prospects and other named official sources, listed with their releases and licences on the sources page.
  • Estimates and projections are labelled. Every number shows its reference year, and figures for the future are marked as projections.
  • Your details stay on your device. The tools work in your browser. Your exact birthday is never sent anywhere. Google Analytics receives only the birth year, so we can see which years people explore most.
  • Free to use. Anthrotempo is funded by advertising from Google AdSense. Ads never influence the content, and there are no affiliate links or paid placements.

Corrections and ideas

If you find an error, please write to hello@anthrotempo.com, ideally with the page and the number concerned. Ideas for new tools are welcome too.
