How we process it
- Downloaded from the official Download Center as CSV files. The download links are read from the Download Center’s own list of files.
- Applied the official update file of January 2026, which replaces the medium-variant series for Togo.
- Converted population counts from thousands to whole people.
- Kept the medium variant. Other scenarios arrive with the projections tool.
- Checked selected values against the UN Data Portal API before publishing.
Known limitations
- Values from 2024 on are projections, even for years that have already passed.
- Population by single age refers to 1 January. Country totals refer to 1 July, as on the UN website.
- The oldest age group is 100 and over. Ages within it are not separated.
- The World is the UN’s own total. It differs slightly from the sum of all countries.
- The figures are model-based estimates, not registered counts.
